Good Time

For the third consecutive year, M1 was invited to participate in the Singapore Rotary Clubs - AIA Corporate Management Bowling League. The Corporate Management Bowling League is recognized as one of the most prestigious and exclusive Bowling League in Singapore. This year's prizes were valued at more than $50,000, a record for amateur bowling in Singapore.

The event, which comprised weekly competitions, kicked off on 27 May at Cathay Bowl, Orchard Cineleisure with a sumptuous buffet dinner, compliments of Lilian's Gourmet. Every week, 14 teams from companies such as United Overseas Bank, City Development Limited, AIA and the Rotary Clubs would compete with each other. Despite the tough competition, M1 players were motivated by the prizes of weekly lucky draws, which included Brands Essence of Chicken, Cathey movie passes, Delfi chocolates and many more. Snacks and drinks were provided for the players every week.

The league moved to the Cathay Bowl at The Chevon in the final weeks. During the Ladies. Masters and Open Category Masters, top bowlers from each team vied for the Master Championship title. Each competing player had to play a series of nine games at the Masters event that lasted well into the night. It was both physically and mentally draining but we remained in high spirits because we had the most supporters!

The League ended with a Prize Presentation Dinner at the Conrad Centennial on 21 September. We were dressed to the nines. The highlight for the night was the Bowling Idol contest. Cheah Poh Leong form CS represented M1. He sang a Hokkien number titled Everyone has a chance to be President! With his powerful vocal and cute disposition, Cheah was crowned the first runner-up. To add to our bowling accolades, Carol Ting from CS topped the Ladies High Game.

The League, which lasted four months and offered good networking opportunities, has turned bowling into an important activity on the CS social calendar. Needless to say, we are eagerly looking forward to participate in the League next year.
